Description
The Gilmore and Clark Block originally stood at this location on the corner of Carrall and E Cordova Streets. It was one of the first brick buildings built after the Great Fire in 1886.
The building was torn down in 1963, and the site stayed as a parking lot until the mid 1990s. In 1997 the current building, named Carrall Station, was built on the site.
Kasian Kennedy Architecture designed this five floor, 81-unit condo project. The building features loft studio and one-bedroom layouts. Its brick façade was meant to match the real heritage buildings in the surrounding Gastown area.
The design encompasses the unique challenges of bringing a modern structure to a heritage neighbourhood.
