Description

In 1875, the Sunnyside Hotel stood on this site, one of the first buildings in Granville before the city was called Vancouver. It was destroyed by the Great Fire in 1886 and rebuilt. In 1907 the new Alexandra Hotel replaced the Sunnyside Hotel. As the Swift Canadian Packing Company next door continued to grow, additional office space was required.

In 1918 the company built a two-storey extension to the east of their building, replacing the Alexandra Hotel with the current structure on this site. There is no record of who built or designed the addition, but since the Swift and Company Construction Department built their original building, they may have also built this extension.
