Description
his house, built in 1903 by B. Davidson, originally sat one city lot with 1101, 1107 and 1113 Thurlow. Robert C. Boyle was the owner of these houses and rented them out. The first resident of 1119 Thurlow was William J. Massey, who appears to have been a wholesaler of wines and spirits. Massey had been with the Queen’s Own Rifles, Northwest Field Force during the 1885 Riel Rebellion. In 1908, James L. Turnbull, physician, moved into the house, and appears to have lived there until 1922.
The house is painted in VHF True Colours: Body colour – Strathcona Red, Trim – Strathcona Gold, Sash – Gloss Black, Deck and stairs – Edwardian Porch Grey.
