Description

This early home was built for Sir John W. Reid, Medical Director-General of the Royal Navy who retired to Vancouver in 1888. His wife, Lady Georgina Reid, was one of the early organizers of the Vancouver Council of Women.

In 1903 the home belonged to Walter C. Nichol, Editor and later Publisher of The Province newspaper who became Lieutenant-Governor of B.C.

Randle Iredale Architects restored the building as their office in 1979. The restoration received a 1980 Regional Award of Honour from the Heritage Canada Foundation. Iredale Group Architecture proceeded to utilize the premises as their office for 25 years.

In 2010, Revenue Property Group acquired Fairview House and restored its interior with walnut hardwood flooring, fir doors and period casework, all complementing its heritage setting. It is currently used as an office space.
