Description

This 1911 two-storey Gabled Vernacular house is located on the north side of East Pender Street between Glen Drive and Vernon Drive. The house features a hipped roof with a single centered dormer, narrow clapboard, and a staircase leading to the full-width porch. The staircase and front door are located on the left side of the house; a triple bay window is located on the right side.

Pile driver Jeremiah McDavitt was the first owner of the house at 1157 East Pender Street from 1911-1918. He was followed by painter Donald Patterson from 1919-1924, fisherman Minard Crowell and his wife Bessie from 1926-1934, Herbert and Helen Jones from 1935-1941, and J.E. Taylor from 1942-1951. Subsequently, John and Ethel Reiser lived in the home until John’s death in 1987.
