Description
Between 1901 and 1905 Lyon & McCall built this house as part of a group of 4 houses: 1176, 1182, 1188 and 1194 Thurlow. 3 of these houses remain. The last in the row, which was at the corner of Davie and Thurlow, is no longer there.
The first resident at 1176 Thurlow Street was Thomas Leith, principal at Lord Stanley School.
In 2009, the house was converted to commercial space on the main floor, and short-term hotel type accommodations on the second floor.
This classic frame is a good example of a typical West End house.
