Description
Built in 1895 by George W. Weeks, manager of Vancouver’s first Hudson’s Bay Company Store, this wood facade construction represents typical west and residential architecture of the end of 19th century. It has been retained as part of the Barclay Heritage Square complex.
Its asymmetrical design includes a central dormer with a gambrel roof, a two sided veranda with shingle clad columns, continuous porch and drop siding over wood frame.
It was converted to a social services center by Friends for Life Society and renamed The Diamond Centre for Living after it was renovated in 1995, when an addition was built and other changes to improve circulation and accessibility were made.
