Description
Along with 1544, 1554 East 13th Avenue was built in 1910 by Passage and Tomlin. It first appears in city directories in 1911, with the resident listed as Archibald W. Scott, an agent at New York Life Insurance Company. Scott lived at the house until 1921.
The following resident was James McNamara, a master mariner who lived at the house from 1922 to 1929. Richard Jones, another master mariner lived in the house in 1933. From 1934 to 1949, Ewart McMynn, a milk saleman, and his wife Amy were the residents.
The house is an example of a front-gabled Craftsman style house, and features a sleeping porch.
