Description
1612 Cedar Crescent is a large Queen Anne Revival style house, now rare in Vancouver, built from 1912-1913 during the development of First Shaughnessy, costing $10,000. It was designed by architects Townsend & Townsend and built by P. M. Malcolm for Andrew Ferguson, a miner. In the 1930s and 40s it was home to Francis Burke, vice President of Calkins & Burke, a food supply company.
The house’s asymmetrical massing and round turret with a conical roof are typical of Queen Anne Revival style. The siding is a variety of textures, with granite facing on the first storey and wood shingles above. 1612 Cedar Crescent also features a large wrap around porch with columns and a balustrade, often seen in Queen Anne Revival style
houses.
