Description
Built in 1910-11 by E. Stride, 1620 Semlin Drive first appears in city directories in 1912 with Alvo Jacobsen listed as the first resident. in 1914, the resident is listed as Olaf Jacobson, a labourer. Olaf remained at the house until 1925, Lew Jacobsen lived in the house from 1926-1937.
The house is an example of a Gabled Vernacular house style, the most common surviving houses of old Vancouver. Gabled Vernaculars are 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 storeys tall with front gabled roofs. The Gabled Vernacular style drew on several popular styles, adapting them for simpler home for everyday living in the late 19th-early 20th century.
