King Edward Avenue was named after King Edward VII, and had its name changed from 25th Ave in 1929. A 1930 by-law changed the designation to East and West King Edward with Ontario Street being the division point. In 1950 by-law 3195 renamed East and West King Edward to King Edward Avenue East and West, and King Edward East beyond Kingsway was changed back to East 25th Avenue.
