Description

Originally located at 3365 Commercial Drive, the Myers House is a two storey wood-frame building constructed in 1911 and has been in continuous residential use since that date.

The house was constructed for a mariner named Conrad Myer, on land previously purchased from the British Columbia Electric Railway Company in 1898. The site is located near the historic interurban station that had been located at East 18th Avenue and Commercial Drive in the ‘Epworth’ township, now known as Cedar Cottage. The building’s simple crossgable form that is indicative of modest housing types from that time and representative of the early development of the Cedar Cottage neighbourhood.

Added to the Heritage Register in 2014, the Myers House was relocated to face 18th Avenue and has been restored and converted into two strata residential units as part of the new subsidized rental housing complex, the Conrad, at 1771 E 18th Avenue.
