Description
Likely built at the same time as 2071 Kitchener in 1910 by Harrison Bros, 2065 Kitchener Street was, up until 1915, known as 2065 Bismark Street. Bismark Street (named after Otto von Bismarck, a Prussian statesman who united the German States into one country) was renamed in 1915 to Kitchener Street, due to anti-German sentiments during the First World War. 2065 [Bismark] first appears in city directories in 1911, with Edward Brown listed as the resident. Brown, a real estate agent, and later printer lived at the house until 1915.
After Brown, the house saw several residents, including an engineer, a salesman, a dentist, and a compositor for the Sun.
