Description
2243 W 5th Avenue was built in 1909 by Frederick H. Almas, of Almas Bros (later Almas & Co) real estate. Almas lived at the house until 1914, when Edward E. Beals took up residence in the house. Beals, manaager for Pacific Printers Ltd. lived in the house for only a year.
The following resident, Ernest Easthope, an engineer working with Easthope Bros., received a permit for repairs and a garage in 1919. Easthope continued living at the house until 1921. Frederick Devlin, a painter/decorator lived in the house from 1922-1923, and 1930-1936.
Bernard Devlin, a lineman for BC Telephone Company lived in the house from 1924 until 1926. Other residents include a carpenter, and a foreman for the Canadian Pacific Railway.
