Description
Built in 1908, the O’Neil House located at 2322 Ontario Street is a good example of early Edwardian housing constructed in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. It is also valued as being one of a few dozen historic houses which have survived in what is now primarily a light industrial area, and for being part of a small collection of adjoining historic sites, including 2314 Ontario Street next door to the north which is also listed on the Register.
The house was built by W.H. Harcus, an architect and builder responsible for the construction of several building in Vancouver from the early 1900s until the 1920s.
Named after dentist Frank O’Neil who lived in the house from 1908-1911, the O’Neil house received an interpretive plaque from the City of Vancouver in 2016.
