Description

The four Edwardian-era houses at 230, 236, 242, and 248 Jackson Avenue are similarly-designed, two-and-one-half storey wood-frame houses. The houses are prominently situated at the corner of East Cordova Street and Jackson Avenue, at the east end of Oppenheimer Park.

Historically, this row of simple homes contained rental suites which housed various tenants (including Japanese Canadians) such as engineers, carpenters, machinists and painters due to their vicinity to the port, mill and commercial centre (Gastown).

This development’s latest incarnation is as the Jackson Street Community Housing Project maintaining its affordability and use as family-oriented social housing.
