Description
In 1919, Thomas Edwards took out a permit for a 4-storey brick building, noting that the basement and main floor were to be used by "Undertaking Co." The second floor was to be an owners suite and the third and fourth floors to be a public hall and lodge room.
After completion and the new tenants of the public hall, The Odd Fellows Society, had moved in they were soon subject to a court action due to the "mirth and sounds of dancing... disturb[ing] the solemn ceremonies... of the T. Edwards Undertaking Parlors," as reported in the Province.
The Edwards family moved into the owners suite in 1921. In the mid-1930's, the building converted the upper three floors into rental apartments over two retail units.
