Description

The first instance of the school was built in 1912, as a two classroom structure. The current building was completed in 1926 by Frank Barrs, with an addition in 1973. The highest period of enrollment was from 1929-30, coinciding with a population and building boom pre-WWII. The building is utilitarian, with minimum relief. Sir John Franklin School has been listed as a future priority in the BC government’s seismic mitigation program. Please check out the archival photographs in the Gallery section of this page.
