Description
2545 [2543] West 2nd Avenue was built in 1911 by Angus McPherson, and designed by Gamble & Knapp. The building permit lists the owner as W.J. Faris.
Gamble & Knapp was the partnership of John T. Gamble and Jacob H. Knapp as architects and engineers, lasting 1910-1012.
In Vancouver, their most important work was the design of ‘The Hollies’, a substantial mansion for G.E. MacDonald executed in an American Colonial Revival style.
A building permit for 2549 West 2nd Avenue shows that it was also built in 1911, but by R.S. Marshall.
