Description

The original owner of this 1911 Craftsman house was contractor James Bruce Arthur who lived here till 1916. Although information on the architect and builder cannot be confirmed, he was likely involved as both; Arthur was responsible for the twin house across the street and many other similar houses in the Mount Pleasant area.

The house combines Craftsman and Bungaloid styles. It has a wood frame construction and stone foundation. It also includes features such as window canopies, window boxes and stained glass. The front gable roof has half-timbering as well as timbered stucco trim in the gables. There is a gabled dormer over the porch, which has been altered to accommodate a basement entry.
