Description
The house at 2728 Pandora Street, identified as the Campbell House, is listed in the “C” category on the Vancouver Heritage Register. This two and a half storey wood frame house has both architectural and historical significance. It is a late Craftsman house built in 1927 by Marcel Tardif, and of simpler style than earlier Craftsman houses featuring a half-width porch with decorative rough stucco and dentils in the two front gables. It is central to a cluster of five houses built between 1908 and 1928.
The associative significance of the Campbell House lies in its relationship to Harry and Margaret Campbell, who were the original owners and lived there until Harry’s death in 1956.
The house had the front stairs and steps repaired in 2004, and the windows replaced in 2007, both with the help of VHF Restore It grants. In 2004, the house was repainted a colour scheme authentic to its time and era with the help of a VHF True Colours Grant.
