Description
Built in 1931, the 2,400-sq.-ft. twin Tudor homes moved were moved from 2827 and 2837 West 43rd Ave. in 2014 to 2822 West 41st, where they are part of a new, eight-unit development. Known as ‘The Dorothies’, they get their name from neighbours Dorothy MacMillan (2837 West 43rd) and Dorothy Smith (2827 West 43rd), who commissioned the building of the respective houses.
The houses first appear in city directories in 1933, with Max Chark and Joseph Labelle listed as the residents.
While the house was not built until 1931, the first building permit filed for the 2827 West 43rd Avenue address was filed in 1921 by David S. Nixon (a farmer who lived at 1212 Howe Street), for a chicken house.
