Description

This Craftsman house was built in 1914 for William Douglas Drake Agnew who was the President of Vancouver Pacific Paper. It was designed by W. Midrew and built by Ira C. Jones. The address of this house was originally 448 West 17th Ave but in 1929, it was changed to 296 West 17th when the road systems were realigned and changed the East/West division of the city from Main Street to Ontario Street.

The front porch is typical of a Craftman Style house and has tapered porch columns and triangular knee braces. The building has surface texture with its use of granite, clinker brick and dentil bands. The house has extensive stained and leaded glass. The house has been converted to a fourplex.
