Description
Built in 1897, this five-storey plus lower level masonry commercial building displays an early Classical Revival influence.
Architects John MacKenzie Moore and Frederick Henry designed the building for the McClarey Manufacturing Company who established this location as its western branch and distribution point. Moore and Henry designed all the MacClarey Manufacturing buildings across Canada. This is their only work in Vancouver.
In 1907, two stories were added to the top of the building. These were designed by by local architect W.T. Dalton, and built by contractor Edward Cook.
Now converted to offices, the building has picked up awards for the careful renovation supervised by Chercover Massie & Associates, Architecture & Engineering, in association with Donald Luxton & Associates.
