Description

This 1½ storey, 6 room house was built from 1911-12 by contractor Christopher Woodburn and was owned by James Cowan. The address was originally 464 West 17th Ave, in the District of South Vancouver. In 1929 when the District of Point Grey amalgamated with Vancouver, the road systems were realigned changing the East/West division of the city from Main Street to Ontario Street. As a result, the house address changed to its current number.

The style of the house is a mix of Craftsman and Bungaloid with its dentils, half timbering in the gable and original balustrade brackets. It is decorated with leaded glass and oval windows on the 2nd floor.
