Description

Emily Carr School #1 may have been built in or before 1910. It is an excellent example of a one-room school and a very good example of early school architecture. The school was probably designed by a Department of Public Works architect. On the basement, there is bevel siding. On the upper portion, there are shingles. The gable roof has slightly framing eaves. The province’s Seismic Mitigation Program has listed Emily Carr Elementary as a future priority for seismic upgrading. Please check out the archival photographs in the Gallery section of this page.
