Description

Built in 1911 by F.S Lindley, 42 W 10th Avenue is a good example of the economical architectural style popular during the Edwardian period in Vancouver: the Classic Box (aka “The Four-Square”). This house features a hipped roof, wide eaves with brackets, side-hall entrance with sidelights, and a centrally placed hipped dormer with brackets. On the first level, the cladding is in narrow wood siding. On the second level, the cladding is in shingles. The sill plate is articulate with dentils. The entry has a pedimented porch with bracketed cornice and turned spindle supports. The house has a City of Vancouver Heritage plaque and was painted a historical colour scheme in 1999, with the assistance of a VHF True Colours grant.
