Description
The earliest portion of the brick-clad school was built in 1910-12 in a Classical Revival style (J.H. Bowman), featuring the ‘barbell’ plan: a central block with projecting wings. As the result of an aggressive building campaign to address the growing population, this is one of the earliest of 12 schools built in the Municipality of South Vancouver between 1910 and 1914. The brick building was a significant investment, and reflects the support for public education by taxpayers. General Wolfe Elementary is currently in the design phase for a seismic upgrade.
