Description
This 1930 bungalow was built for Ernest and Minnie Baker, and was owned by the Baker family until 1999. The Bakers had a nearby business, Kingsway Woodworks, which manufactured windows and doors. The current owners found the home little altered and in excellent condition. The exterior of the home is in red brick and limestone cladding that echoes the grander Arts & Crafts homes of the era. The original asbestos tile roof was replaced with the assistance of a Restore It grant from VHF. The interior of the home retains a heritage feel. The home has a typical floorplan of a Vancouver bungalow. The original wood flooring has been revealed and refurbished. The living room is in a Hollywood-inspired style popular in the late 1920s and early 1930s with heavy textured plaster, coved ceilings and arched windows. The kitchen retains its original 1950s stove and 1930s era cabinets and furniture. The roof was replaced in 2014 with the assistance of a VHF Restore It grant.
