Description
Originally built in 1907, this two-and-a-half-storey Edwardian single family residence is one of three clustered buildings – 436, 444 (later renumbered to 438), and 446 Union Street. The original clapboard façade of this classic boxed structure has been covered up with stucco, but the periodic architectural detail of its wooden windows and Tuscan columns are well preserved. Like most people living in the neighbourhood in the early 1900s, the early occupants of 438 Union Street were working class, mostly of Italian descendants.
