Description

This two storey house was built circa 1910 in what was then the municipality of South Vancouver. It was initially owned by Charles Downey and rented out. John Imrie, a cabinetmaker, was a tenant in 1914 and 1915. He and his wife Janet returned in 1921, this time as owners, and remained here with their family until 1942. This vernacular style Edwardian era house features a modernized adaptation of Victorian detailing: a streamlined arched enclosure of the soffit under the front and side gables.

The homeowners were awarded a City of Vancouver Heritage Award in 1994. In 2007, the house was painted in a historic colour scheme with the assistance of a VHF True Colours Grant.
