Description

Built in 1909 for owner Hibbert Matheson, a contractor and farmer, 445 West 15th Avenue is of the Gabled Vernacular style costing $2,300 to build. The house has a front-gabled roof with skirt across the bottom, a full-width porch with columns holding up a gabled roof, the front door placed to one side of the house, stained glass sidelights, and bay windows on the first and second storeys. The dentil detailing and shingle pattern of the front gable is more elaborate than many other Vernacular style homes. The house’s side dormers were added since 1985.
