Description

This house was built in 1910 and first listed in 1912 as owned by James Porteous, a carpenter. Later, Archibald McCulloch and his wife, Marion, resided in the home from 1920-1942. McCulloch was an installer for the BC Telephone Company. From 1943-1949 the residents were Chase Jenion, who worked at E L Sauder Lbr, his wife Esther and their daughter Edra, a clerk.

James Street was named after James Welton Home (1854-1922), a pioneer Vancouver realtor who served on Vancouver City Council from 1888-1890, was chairman of the Parks Board from 1888-1894, and was a MLA from 1890-1894.
