Brock School #2

Situated in the neighbourhood of Riley Park, General Brock School was built in 1908 and stands as one of the oldest school buildings in Vancouver. The school is the most well-preserved of three identical schools designed by W. T. Whiteway. As an architect commissioned by the city to build many of Vancouver’s iconic buildings in the early 20th century, Whiteway was also responsible for designing the Sun Tower and the St. Regis in Downtown.

This school is characterised by its wooden frame and siding, bellcast roof and rounded entry arches – some of which can be found in other buildings crafted by Whiteway.
