Description

Completed 1928 to 1929, the school was designed by Townley and Matheson. The building uniquely mixes modern concrete construction with traditional aesthetics. As with Sir Alexander Mackenzie School, which was designed by the same architects, Point Grey Secondary makes use of poured in place concrete for its facade.

The Gothic Revival style, with its medieval imagery, was popular for collegiate buildings across North America. Point Grey Secondary School is an important and impressive historical landmark in the Kerrisdale community.

Seismic upgrading is required for Point Grey Secondary. A feasibility study to determine whether the school building should be strengthened or rebuilt is currently underway.
