Description

This 8 storey building was built in 1911 by the Crane Company, a major supplier of plumbing products. It was used as a warehouse until 1956. The building is part of a continuous streetscape of warehouse buildings varying in scale and architectural style. The building gives a flavour of wholesaling activities in downtown Vancouver in the early 20th century.

The building is representative of early warehouse vernacular style architecture. It has a prefabricated structure of cast iron tubular columns on concrete encased steel beams and has hard pressed red brick cladding.
