Description
Built in 1903-1904, 750 Princess Avenue is listed in the “C” category of the Vancouver Heritage Register. Massing and detail are typical of the “classic Edwardian box” form of single family dwelling: hipped roof, central and side dormers, cubic volume, asymmetrical front and side bay windows with diamond latticed mullions, and paired columns to the front verandah.
The alternate address for this house is Barnard Street and Carl Avenue (Union Street and Princess Avenue).
732 and 750 Princess were originally on the same title, each straddling a portion of two adjacent lots running north to south.
In 2000, the homeowner of 732 and 750 Princess Avenue, through a complex Heritage Revitalization Agreement with the City of Vancouver, were able to reconfigure the lots and separate the land titles. In return for this process, they agreed to legally protect the heritage houses from demolition, resulting in their earning a a bronze heritage plaque.
