Description
This commercial building was the original site of the Montreal Trust Company, a subsidiary of Bank of Montreal. To form its current building structure, it went through two construction phases in 1929 and 1965. This 15-storey high building also had an extensive renovation in 1991, but details of each phase / renovation cannot be found. The Montreal Trust Company formed in 1889 and was one of largest banks in Canada until it merged with Scotiabank in 1994. Currently the building has retail shops on the street level and offices above.
