Description
This Edwardian Builder style house was originally in a group of four identical houses, possibly built for the speculative housing market of the day. The original owner of the house was Dr. R.C. Boyle, who owned the other houses. The designer was Bedford Davidson. Architectural details of the house include an unusual side bay, an expansive porch overhang, a stained glass window and coloured glass on the side stairwell window.
Early residents of the house were Robert R. Welsh, a broker, Stephen S. East, who was in wholesale produce, and Clarence E. Steele, of the Steele Agency Insurance agents.
In 1985, the house was renovated / restored by architect Allan Diamond as non-market housing. The house is now part of Barclay Heritage Square.
