Wilson Building

The Wilson Block (now Tom Lee Building) was originally commissioned by C H Wilson. It was designed by Dalton and Everleigh as a warehouse in 1910 – an addition to a single storey warehouse designed by Crowe and Wilson in 1904.

By the 1920s the building was used to showcase the Manufacturers’ Association of British Columbia’s produced goods. In the 1930s (c. 1939) as the home of William Warrall’s Furniture Emporium.

In the 1940s it was owned by George Sparling Wholesale and Retail, and in 1989 the building was redesigned and renovated for Tom Lee Music. Tom Lee Music began in 1969 as a small piano retailer in Vancouver.

Now known as the Tom Lee Building, the Granville Street store is six floors dedicated to all things musical — including the 240-seat Tom Lee Music Concert Hall and the Tom Lee Music Academy.
