Description
This building was designed in 1910 by Parr & Fee, and owned by T McWhinnie. Parr & Fee was an architectural partnership designed many of the buildings on Granville Street between the 1899 and 1912.
This building was initially home to the Harvard Hotel, with Langridge Furniture operating from the main floor. It is currently occupied by Siesta Rooms (a Single Room Occupancy hotel) and the Roxy nightclub downstairs.
The single storey buildings beside it have housed multiple businesses over the years, such as McDowell’s Grocery Store (c. 1921), The President Café (c. 1930), and Galloway-Dorblis Books (c. 1943) which sold new and second hand books. The Roxy nightclub has been in operation since 1988.
