Description

Sir Alexander Mackenzie School is the only Art Deco style school in Vancouver. Designed by Townley and Matheson and built from 1929 to 1930, it is one of the earliest examples of cast-in-place concrete facing. Sitting in a bowl-shaped depression, it is a local landmark with high visibility. Sir Alexander Mackenzie has been listed as a future priority in the BC government’s seismic mitigation program. Please check out the archival photographs in the Gallery section of this page.
