Description

The wooden paddleboard weighing 190 tons serviced fur trading posts throughout British Columbia, solidifying the HBC’s dominance of the fur trade. It also played a significant role in transporting gold rush prospectors between Victoria and the Lower Mainland and subsequently surveyed the B.C. coastline for the Royal Navy.

In 1874, the Beaver was sold and used as a tugboat for service in the lumber and coal industries.
